A comprehensive online private investigation learning program is now available online. It has been developed by the many investigation subject matter experts within our Association. It is now mandated training requirement for all persons who wish to apply for a PI-Under-Supervision license from the Ministry of Justice.
The learning provided by this program of study is of interest to the general public, those who wish to enter into the field of professional private investigation, wish to prepare for advanced investigation courses, or contemplate entering into careers where professional investigation knowledge and skills are essential.

Learn More
PIABC has been an active participant in ongoing consultations and committees involving Federal and Provincial governments, police and private security services stakeholders. These discussions and committees were formed to help reengineer future public safety and security service delivery models.
The eventual outcomes of this work may result in significant benefits such as enhancing public safety and security services, controlling the associated costs of meeting public safety and security service expectations, and providing business opportunities for the security industry, including private investigation.
The presentations and papers are important information for investigators and security service business owners who wish to anticipate future opportunities and be prepared to benefit. The information is available for our members to read here!
Learn MorePIABC is an association of professional licensed private investigators and security consultants in British Columbia. We also offer Associate membership to private investigators and security consultants lawfully licensed in other jurisdictions.
The Mission of PIABC is to establish and maintain a high standard of ethics for its members; to disseminate information relating to ethical practice in private investigation; to provide professional development to its members, to encourage association between owners and operators of private investigation companies, agencies and security professionals; to educate the communities which the members serve about private investigation and the services rendered to the public.
We recommend at least four steps in hiring a PI firm.
Ascertain that they are licensed as a PI firm by the Security Programs and Police Technologies Division of the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
Ascertain that the firm is a member in good standing with PIABC by using our ‘Find-A-PI’ search tool or using our more specific PIABC member search.
Ensure that the firm can supply the investigative resources appropriate for your unique needs.
