Confirm PIABC Business Registrants
Use the PI Search Tool alphabetical list to determine if a PI firm is registered with PIABC. We
encourage you to go through all of the alphabetical list in case you are uncertain of or misspelled the firm’s name.
If you cannot find the PI firm in this list, then contact us at email@example.com for formal verification of registration status. Provide the firm’s name and other relevant particulars in your email. You will receive a ‘Reply’ with your original email within the response within a few days of your email to us. We recommend that you also contact the firm by phone, advise them that you did not find them in our registrant firms list and are waiting for a confirmation from PIABC.
Do not assume that a firm is registered in good standing with PIABC simply because they have our logo on their website or on their business cards. We have found that some firms inaccurately market themselves as PIABC business registrants. You should assess whether you wish to do business with such firms.
Finally, we appreciate you advising us if you find a firm that inaccurately markets itself as registered with PIABC. Send us the information at firstname.lastname@example.org. We want to ensure that the good name of our Association is used only by PIABC business registrants who have been vetted by us and have committed to abide by our code of ethics.
Confirm PI Membership
Provincial legislation and regulations governing private investigators require that PIs carry their security worker license when working and produce it when requested by the person to whom they hold themselves out to be a private investigator. The license is similar to a driver’s license and has a photograph on it along with expiry date.
You can also request a PI member for their PIABC number along with their first and last name which you should obtain by viewing their security worker license. Do not assume the name provided is correct unless you see it on their valid security license with an accompanying matching photograph on the license. Please email email@example.com asking for membership verification and include the PI’s full name and PIABC member number. We will get back to you within a few days with verification.
